Indian mentality

You feel bad,
when a person riding his bike jsut before you and all of a sudden spits on the road. You might be going to office or to attend some functions or meetings.
when you see a corner of a mall, staircase of some public place, public toilets etc.
when a person driving on the raod just before you takes a sudden turn. You might have met with an accident with him or others in case if you tried to save your self from the same.
when you am at some traffic signal and waiting for the green light. Eventhough there is red light and there is no scope going forward, people behind you keep honking.

The list may be very long. Yes, I am trying to point out points related to us - the people. We have become so selfish that we even do not thinf others and their conveniency.
Does the person spitting on the road, spits anywhere at his/her home ?
You have to be very carefull when you are riding/driving on india roads. You may met with an accident even if you are driving safe just because others are not driving safely.

You are in a bus whole packed with people. You are not the only one standing just because there is no seat. There is an old man standing with you. You look around and you see, people try to show they are asleep. Some try to look busy, playing silly ping-pong games on their tabs. Some have their heads face down, looking at the floor, so that they don't feel ashamed if an elderly person is standing in front. These ostriches save themselves from carrying the burden of shame on their conscience. And there are people who start fighting in case they don't get a comfortable seat. This makes me feel ashamed of being one among such kind of people. We behave like animals and our great culture and philosophy remain where they have been all ages: in the books.

For all of us who are Indians living in India, such instances are routine. Some people call it population explosion and say that the above-mentioned situations are due to lack of education. I say that this is the lack of self desciplin. hen Indians go to other country ,they never spit or throw garbage here and there. But the same people here in India would spit anywhere.
What I feel is, we do have good schools and universities where they teach the so called education, but what we do not have is schools and institutions where they teach how to become a good human being and respect others - a good character building.
Not only the schools and institutions, every parent of the coming generation has to be given proper guidance how to bring up their children ,to know the patriotism, love, respect for all etc. Then it may be possible to change the mentality of the people.

Public Hygeine & Sanitation Problems in India

Nearly half of India's 1.2 billion people have no toilet at home, but more people own a mobile phone, according to the latest census data.

Public Hygeine

People do not care about public hygiene, and they do not realize that keeping environment clean is societal obligation.
Indis atill lags behind in cleanliness and public hygeine.t is not just humans who dirty Indian public spaces: even stray animals who are uncared for such as street dogs and cows use the open spaces for defecating. This makes it very difficult to walk on footway or steet. Such sanitation problems have generally been ignored, with neither the state nor the citizens accepting responsibility and taking the matter seriously.

Litter

As Sriram Vadlamani writes:

“No body in India thinks that litter is a problem at all. Majority of Indians are used to throwing trash on the road. In fact, Indian roads double up as parking spaces, trash cans, temporary storage for construction materials, and free loading docks for enterprises.”

Plastic

The use of plastic, steel and other non-biodegradable products have had tremendous impact on the country’s environmental degradation and litter problem. Although the use of plastic bags is being banned in some cities, littering habits have not changed among the population and plastic is still being used by most of the population as a cheaper alternative to biodegradable products. Popular sites in the country such as beaches, rivers and monumental sites are equally littered with plastic and other waste materials.

The Great Pacific garbage patch,  is a gyre of marine debris particles in the central North Pacific Ocean located roughly between 135°W to 155°W and 35°N and 42°N. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_garbage_patch] .

Sanitation problems

There are a number of other sanitation problems which dirty the streetscapes of India apart from littering. This includes spitting, using public spaces for toiletry needs as a result of the lack of good public toilets.

Professor Jayati Ghosh from JNU admits that:

“Sanitation remains our worst concern. India is the least improved country when it comes to access to proper sanitation. In some places, modern toilets have been set up but they have no water. We have the largest population in the world that defecates in the open.”

Spitting on street and corners

Spitting on the streets is another habitual Indian concern. Although in the West it is considered rude and a social taboo, in India it has become socially acceptable. t is not only visually unpleasant to see, but can spread bacterial diseases and is a major health concern of which most of the population is unaware.

Indian public spaces are poorly maintained. As the population in India continues to grow into the billions, with economic limitations, it has been difficult for Indians to give particular attention to their outside environment. Sanitation problems such as litter, lack of public toilets and spitting on the streets are a growing concern which hinders not only the quality of the environment but also the global image of Indian society as a whole.

Japanese & cleanliness

Visit the link, http://rt.com/news/167408-japan-fans-cleaning-stadium/ , and see how the best football fans, Japanses, clean the tribune after a Group C footbal match between Japan and Greece at the Dunas Arena in Natal during the 2014 FIFA World Cup on June 19, 2014.

Cleanliness is the responsibility of every citizen of India. Of Course, the charity begins from home. First of all we should clean our house and surrounding where we are living. In other countries you can't throw a single piece of garbage any where and if you do you will be punished by law but in our country we Indian including me. We throw garbage anywhere and we don't ask the owner about dustbin. So cleanliness is our moral duty and a responsibility and we can't escape from it.

We should spread awareness about hygiene and sanitation in public through media by campaign.

Hawaa Hawaai

Director: Amole Gupte
Writer: Amole Gupte
Stars: Mahesh Balraj, Bugs Bhargava, Hardik Bothra
Get it from Amazon.com
Having mastered the art of working with kids, Gupte once again has his son playing the lead.

Hawaa Hawaai is the story of Arjun Waghmare (Partho Gupte) who works at a tea stall where peak hours are in the latter half of the day. This is when the rich city kids learn skating in the parking lot once it's empty. Aniket (Sakib Salim) is the coach who is temporarily on a wheel chair following an accident but that doesn't stop him from doing what he loves, teaching skating. The first time Arjun (who is popularly known as Raju) sees roller skates, he turns starry eyed and he wishes to have a pair too. And once he sees the kids speeding on the wheels in the ring, he can't get his eyes off them.

the heart of the film is in the right place, it shows us a world which is so close to all of us and most of the times we choose to ignore and behave as if it doesn't exist just because it doesn't affect us directly. The film has its moments that will move you to tears.

A milestone and few learnings

I have recently completed five long years in the industry. Thinking of so many things. And I feel good when I look myself and many others in and out of the industry.

I was lucky enough to get admission in the most reputed college in the state and got a good job in the campus. Needless to say, my parents have done so much for me to get in there. Without their effort and love, I could not have been where I am right now.

I have got many opportunities after my first job and today and I am happy that I have gone so far in the journey of the life. I have met so many people, worked with many teams and managers till now. I have learnt many things from all of them. I have really made some good and lifetime friends which I will cheris forever.

I want to share some of the things that I have learnt during these days being in the industry which may also help others as well.

Always be focused at what you want to do
I was asked to do teh stuff which I did not want to do as a software engineer in my career. I was fresher at that time and was very confused as what to do next. But I gathered some courage and told everything what I felt and what I wanted to do. I got the the chance to do what I wanted to do and I also succeded and proved myself. I also got some appreciations from the managers.

Learn to say No when it is really required
In your professional life, manier times you may require to say either YES or No to your boss. You have to be very specific in taking the decisions at the time. Never say yes if you think if you can not meet his expectations with the available scenarios. Learn to say NO if the situations are not feasible and you can not meet the expectations set by him. Also, you need to be ready with the explanations and justifications if you are saying NO to some work or something.

Give your best
Choose the right work for you and give your best to it. No one can stop you then to achive your goal and you will be the best.

Maintain the line between professional and personal stuffs
You need to maintain the lines between your professional and personal stuffs. Your colleagues may be your good friends, but when you are at work you all are professionals. To give and take advantage of your friendship when you are at work may spoil your professional as well as personal life.

Work Life balance
Avoid passing time in office beyond your working hours. There may be times when you may have to stretch your working hours, but leave the office when it is not required and it is absolutely not necessary to be in. Your family also needs you.

Speak up
You need to speak up for yourself. Manier time, you may feel things are not ok with you. You need to go to your boss and speak up if anything wrong has happened to you and your boss has to listen to your words.

Using Tata Photon + with linux Ubuntu, Huawei EC1261

When I purchased Tata Photon+ mobile broadband connection, I was totally unaware of that the device that I have purchased does not come with support for Linux. The device model is Huawei EC1261. I went back to the dealer asking him for the help. But no gain. Then after I decided to search the net and fix it myself. Finally I ended up writing a small three line shell script which I run everytime I want to run the internet in linux. I though of sharing with the world so that others out there do not face the dificulty !! Please write down your comments and view if this works for you. Cheers..

1) create a small .sh file and write down below lines into it

sudo usb_modeswitch -v 0x12d1 -p 0x1446 -d
sudo modprobe -rv usb-storage
sudo usb_modeswitch -c /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1446

2) Save the document and run it using the sh command as a background process
